Magic Lantern for 7D…

It may not look like much to anyone who doesn’t know what the Magic Lantern firmware for the 5Dmk ii is or does but believe me it’s very exciting. The firmware has been developed as open source so other programmers who (don’t mind risking their expensive cameras and) are skilled in ARM assembly, embedded systems, and GUI programming can get involved in the enhancement of the firmware. Essentially it adds key cinema ‘camera-like’ features for control of image, exposure and audio as follows;

1). On-screen audio meters
2). Manual gain control with no AGC
3). Zebra stripes (video peaking)
4). Custom Cropmarks for 16:9, 2.35:1, 4:3 and any other format
5). Control of focus and bracketing

I am henceforth extremely happy about the prospect of this Firmware being relased as well for the 7D.

Blog Relocation to WordPress

After only a brief deliberation I decided to relocate my blog to wordpress yesterday and already I am blown away by the choices it offers the user. The look is much cleaner and the interface more intuitive – a serious improvement on e blogger. The categories system here on WordPress is fantastic and will hopefully enable a much better experience for readers – it is however going take me a little while to make sure I organise everything effectively so bear with me while I play a bit of catch up.
